NEW TUESDAY BIBLE CLASS
February 14, 2009 |
NEW - TUESDAY BIBLE CLASS - February 24 - April 21 at 7:30pm
(Sign up on office door)
Have you ever wondered why the Lord gave us four Gospels, instead of just one? Or perhaps someone has challenged you with the accusation that these four Gospels contradict each other. In this case we will consider eight episodes from the life of Christ, as they are recorded in three or all four of the Gospels, and discuss what makes the Gospels different from one another. We will see that, far from contradicting each other, the four Gospels look at the life and work of Christ from four different perspectives and reinforce each other’s central teaching-that in Christ alone we sinners can find forgiveness and life. We will learn to use some tools in reading and studying these Gospels. And we will bring more focus to our own Lenten preparation and Easter celebration by considering these eight events:
1) The Transfiguration
2) The Feeding of the 5,000
3) Jesus’ Walk on the Sea of Galilee
4) Jesus’ Healing of the Demon-Possessed Man and Jesus’
Foretelling of His Death and Resurrection
5) Jesus’ Anointing at Bethany
6) Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem
7) Jesus’ Last Supper and Institution of the Lord’s Supper
8) Jesus’ Resurrection (2 classes)

Pastor Appreciation Day is October 5, 2008
posted Oct 1, 2008 10:36 AM by Andrew Hargreave [
updated Oct 1, 2008 10:40 AM ]
Pastors need a lot of support from their community.
The seven ways listed below will be a positive way to show your pastor you care:
1. PRAY.
Prayer is the most powerful weapon you can use to help your pastor. They have daily struggles as much as, or more than, we do. Take time to ask the Lord to bless them in their very important ministry.
2. MAKE AN EFFORT TO LEARN FROM YOUR PASTOR’S MESSAGE.
Try each day to work on your relationship with God, and you’ll honor your pastor and the lessons that they teach.
3. SHOW YOUR PASTOR PERSONAL SIGNS OF APPRECIATION.
A thank you card or an offer to assist them at church functions may not seem like much, but it’s a great way to show your pastor that you appreciate them.
4. GET TO KNOW THEM BETTER.
Take your pastor out to lunch or dinner. Invite them over to your house for a family get-together. Taking the time to get to know your pastor will make it much easier for them in the long run.
5. GET INVOLVED.
Your pastor works hard to turn your congregation into a true community. Reward him by taking an active part in church
programs and activities.
6. HAVE A CELEBRATION.
Pull your congregation together for a special service of appreciation.
7. SHOW UNDERSTANDING.
Pastors are just as human as the rest of us and they are just as troubled by pressures of life. Show as much compassion for them and their problems as they would show for yours.
It's not easy being a pastor. The accountability alone before the Lord is overwhelming. "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you." (Hebrews 13:17).
